Marriage and Paperwork
Many of you already know this, but on December 12th I got married to my husband, Nate. We had a beautiful, snowy wedding day, intimate in that only 15 people were present (originally the guest list was much larger, but as we all know, COVID threw a wrench in our 2020 plans), but Nate and I tell everyone now that a smaller wedding was the kind of wedding we never knew we wanted. It was a perfect day.
Now, as a new bride, I love talking about my wedding and I could discuss that day with you for more than a paragraph… but that’s not why we’re here. We’re talking about my wedding because of all the steps that are taken after the ceremony. Like, for example, changing my name and beneficiaries on my investment accounts.
As an Investment Adviser, these were steps that naturally I knew had to be done. However, it’s not just a quick sign-and-dash change. There’s paperwork to fill out, signatures to be signed and decisions to be made. How will beneficiaries change (or stay the same) now that I’m married? My address needed to be updated. My NAME is different. There’s a few steps involved, not to mention a stack of paperwork.
Luckily for me (and my husband), all accounts were changed rather diligently due to the quick processing and meticulousness of our staff, especially our Administrative Assistant, Becca, who handles all paperwork processing. We pride ourselves in good customer service and handling paperwork or account changes quickly, and there’s no better time to test the system when you, the Adviser, have a change of your own.
I write this all to ask… have you had a life change recently? At your review meeting, we confirm beneficiaries, RMD instructions, addresses of record, account titles and more every year with you, and it’s important that we have your most current instructions. If any changes or updates come to mind, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We promise to make the process as simple and easy for you as possible.
